Programme for 2017 – 2018

Thur 1st March matinee Strangers on a Train

The Cambridge Arts Theatre
It has several well known actors and the play is based on a world renowned 1950s novel by Patricia Highsmith, made universally famous by the classic Oscar winning Alfred Hitchcock film. This astonishingly gripping production is guaranteed to delight you with its dark wit and thrill and chill you as the suspense mounts.
Wed 4th April   Annual Cheese and Wine, to socialise and hear members views and opinions about the club.
April   Note: there was insufficient interest in Cirque Berserk and The Marriage of Figaro to make it worthwhile proceeding .
Thur 10th May Brick Lane Music Hall

Silvertown, West Ham
near London City Airport
The Best of British Music Hall. A lunchtime show with delicious three course lunch. Those who have been before can tell you what great fun it is, and if you wish to know more please telephone me (Doug Chapman) on 01787 282145
Tickets for the show and lunch £43:00 plus coach fare. We would like to have names of those who would like to go by March 15th.
Tue 17th July Body Language by Alan Ayckbourn

Southwold Summer Season
Our annual trip to the seaside plus theatre. This year they are performing a 2:30pm matinee, so we will leave Cavendish earlier – probably 9:30am – to allow time for a paddle and some lunch.
The production is Body Language, by Alan Ayckbourn. A quiet country clinic staffed by handsome doctors and pretty nurses looking after supermodels and rock stars is visited by a plastic surgeon. He saves the lives of attractive model Angie and plain dumpy Jo but unfortunately he makes one teensy-weeny mistake ……………
We will ask for commitment at a future date.
Wed 29th August Miss Saigon

Norwich Theatre Royal
This is a West End tour and as it has been sold out at many venues. There is still one spare seat if you or a friend would like to go.
The Theatre wish to be paid by mid March so those who have committed to go will hear from me with a request for payment very soon.
Fri 5th October 7.30pm Our Finest Hour

Cambridge Corn Exchange
To coincide with the lead up to the celebration of VE Day , a look back in words and music at the momentous turning point of World War Two. With songs and music of the 1940s and famous speeches of Winston Churchill .
Join Kevin Whatley, the BBC Big Band, vocalist Annie Gill and stars from the West End in a unique celebration of Our Finest Hour.
As the tickets for this show seem to be selling quite quickly already, without commitment at present, we would be interested to know if this evening appeals to you, so we can reserve a block of good seats, priced at £30:00 – £35:00, plus coach.
Mon 17th December afternoon performance Christmas Spectacular 2018

Thursford, Fakenham
This annual favourite is set in the magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, with a large cast of professional singers, dancers and musicians. The 3 hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety.

Due to popular demand we have taken the option of the more expensive seating in the centre section. The cost for this seating will be £66.50. including coach, ticket and driver’s gratuity. The deposit has already been paid but no funds are required from members as yet, however, initial expressions of interest would be useful without commitment. Payment will not be required until much nearer the date.

Finally, as last year there were a few shows for which we could not go ahead as there was not sufficient interest, we would like to extend our membership into the surrounding area. If you could mention us to any friends you think might be interested we would be very grateful.
