Services in Holy Week for all the Churches of the Stour Valley Benefice

Each day there will be a Service of Compline (Night Prayer) in St Peter and St Paul with a short address at 7.00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Services on Good Friday begin with Matins in Stoke or Cavendish and later include the annual walk of witness with friends from Churches Together meeting at the Priory 10.00am. The walk concludes at Market Hill and retiring to the Baptist Church for the traditional consumption of Hot Cross buns and coffee. All welcome.

We shall join the Priory for The Liturgy of Good Friday 2.30pm Good Friday afternoon. This is now an established service for Anglicans and Catholics in Clare and an important witness to that which we share in common. All are welcome from across the Benefice and the wider community

Later that day at 7.00pm Compline at Poslingford draws the day to a close.

The Easter Vigil service starting at 7.30pm on Holy Saturday in St Peter and St Paul prepares us for the first Eucharist on Easter Day. The service is begins with the Vigil where we read the story of Creation with the theme of Baptism in mind. This is followed by the lighting of the fire from which the Easter candles for all churches in the Benefice are lit. We leave the church excitedly in anticipation of receiving the sacrament in the morning Eucharist.
