The Cavendish Community Shop has been very active in collecting shareholders annual subscriptions and encouraging new shareholders of late. We extend a very warm welcome to those new shareholders and thank them for their support.
There are also a number of new residents in Cavendish some of whom have volunteered for shop duty, it is a sure fire way to meet the community why not try your hand – the much maligned till is easily mastered and there is always someone at the end of the telephone to troubleshoot if a problem arises.
If you wish to become a shareholder please ask for an application form in the shop or contact Michael Gratton on 282257 or email@example.com. Shares cost £10 each and you are only allowed a single share which is not transferrable at any time, annual subscription is currently £1 but will rise to £2 in the next financial year commencing 1st November 2018.
This event is now over.
We are pleased to open 15 village gardens over the weekend. All are available on both days. They vary from the garden of a 16th century thatched cottage, to a recently occupied new build, with a range of mature gardens in a wide variety of styles. Visitors will also have the chance to visit the Church with “The best Military Brass in England”- Sir Robert de Bures as well as others, including Lady Alice de Bryern. It also has the Jennens Memorial, a magnificent 18th Century sculpture for the founder of the fortune behind true story that inspired “Jarndyce v Jarndyce” in Dickens’ Bleak House. Entrance is by programme, £5 for the two days. All profits going to All Saints Church.
Details are available on the Church website, www.allsaintschurchacton.vpweb.co.uk and also at www.opengardens.co.uk (Search for Acton)

The Cavendish website readership peaked at nearly 2,000 unique visitors over the summer, not bad for a small village. While Autumn visitor numbers may be down, this is still an excellent vehicle for free publicity for clubs, societies and groups to advertise their forthcoming event.
If you are organising a jumble sale, concert, party or any other fund raising event in the area, just send me ( email@example.com ) a copy of your poster and I’ll be glad to include it on the site.
Do you run a club or society and want to attract more members? Send me a copy of your meeting schedule and I’ll create a diary page showing your planned topics.
